You moved into a house with a pre-existing home security system
Sometimes when you buy a house, a home security system is already in use. All the devices work, are placed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this case, you might discover that you have to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a fast trip, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The old owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up cost to make the process easier. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to an apartment or retirement community, transferring the home security contract might be a part of the sale.
You want to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring your old home security components with you to your new place when you move. That’s fairly easy to transfer, as most smart devices are portable. You can take down each component yourself or use a professional expert to come and dismantle the system. Then our installers will put in the same components -- and any additions you want to make -- in the new home. And your home security contract will keep the same.
